Belated Update

Long hours working on the winery have kept me from providing an update on progress. A lot has been going on:

The parking lot and sidewalks have been put in:

The deck has been started:

Some exterior painting has also been done and the main level is now primed:

Finishing up the processing facility

With the countdown to harvest 2011 less than 4 weeks (thankfully it looks like this years harvest is delayed a week to 10 days due to a cool early summer), we are feverishly working to get the basement processing facility ready. The drywall is up and mudded and the painting has begun. The best part maybe that the AC is up & running!

The tall kickout:

Gluing up FRP board (wash board) for the walls where the bottling line will go:

While we are painting the earth movers were moving a lot of dirt:

And we found time to get a retaining wall in by the soon to be poured crush pad:

The Sheetrock Is Up

Progress is being made as the sheetrock crew finished up putting up the boards. Yesterday the crew came and put up the drywall corner beads and today the mudding begins.

While on the outside, this past weekend the second set of columns on the vestibule were finally added and we did some dirt moving.

Drywall Continues

Day 3 of the Drywall saw the work on the main floor completed as well as the stairwell. Quite a different look at the stairs. The crew moved to the processing facility in the basement and got quite a bit done in the basement. Things are moving along.

Here is the main level - It was getting dark when I shot the photos.

The basement ceiling/soffit work begins.

This is Richard's wine lab.

Here are some vineyard shots with the beautiful full moon.

Ready for Drywall!!

The July 4th 3 day holiday weekend saw us working long days trying to get the insulation completed. After working 8a til around 10p each day we were able to complete the insulation and get it inspected last week. This weekend we finished up some items (fireplace framing, running phone wire, TV wire, to name a few) so that we are now ready for the drywallers to arrive. At last!! The sheet rock arrived on Friday and the drywallers are scheduled to start either Monday or Tuesday. Then big changes will appear!!

Insulation in the processing area - That was a long way up

The fireplace is all framed in.

Cathedral Ceiling  Insulation

North wall of tasting room overlooking processing facility  - only upper part of wall is an outside wall  and needed insulation.

Rocky needed a rest after working so hard

Insulation Begins

This past weekend we began the itchy task of insulation. Especially not fun on a hot humid day! Amy did the work on the insulation while Richard addressed other tasks.

Fireplace "chimney" framed up

Finally we also had to "fix" our king studs. They are 6 columns of 3 2x6's found on the tall west wall that go from the sill all the way up to the top that help stabilize the building during winds. The framers had mistakenly cut into them putting in the window headers. So I had to add 1 or 2 on each column.

Finally after some intense storms on Monday evening we noticed evidence of a lightening strike.
